Description

LAYSTER ™ is a high-performance, semi-crystalline polyester thermoplastic designed for precision molding and demanding environments. It combines dimensional stability, low moisture absorption, and exceptional electrical insulation, making it ideal for high-speed production and components requiring tight tolerances.

Engineering Insight

PBT’s semi-crystalline structure provides a rare blend of rigidity and toughness, along with excellent creep resistance under long-term loads. Its low moisture uptake ensures that part dimensions remain stable even in humid environmentsmaking it is a superior choice over nylon in critical tolerance assemblies. PBT also exhibits superior electrical insulation properties, making it ideal for high-voltage or heat-generating applications. Reinforced PBT compounds (with glass fiber or mineral fillers) further enhance stiffness, dimensional precision, and thermal aging resistance, enabling its use in high-temperature zones under the hood or inside electronic devices.

Its low friction surface, resistance to wear, and UV stability make it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. PBT also supports flame-retardant and glass-reinforced grades, allowing it to perform reliably in demanding applications across automotive, electrical, electronics, and appliance industries
